Hi. How’s everything? Good. Good. That’s good to hear. Oh yeah. I’m fine. Thanks for asking. Not much is happening. Same old stuff. I made a song. You want to hear it? Oh. Well yeah I know you’re busy. It’s cool. I mean, it’s no big deal. I just thought you might want to hear it. I mean, I sat through your poetry readings at the coffee shop in the early 90’s. No, I didn’t mean anything by it. I was just saying. Of course I loved them. I just thought maybe you could support me like I supported you, but that’s all right. Yeah, I know. Well, I’m not really trying to get a record contract or anything. It’s just a hobby. Yeah, I know you got published in that poetry book. I remember paying your submission fee. I bought two copies, remember? No, I don’t want my money back, I was just trying to remind you. Of course I think you’re talented. Oh, I know. You could have been a writer. You should have been a writer. No, I wanted you to apply to Carnegie Mellon. It was your boyfriend that told you to go to the community college. No, I don’t think it was a mistake. That’s not what I said. Of course I think you’re smart. I know. I’m sure it is hard to brew all those different kinds of coffee. Listen, I’m not criticizing you. I’m happy for you. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you. I just wanted to share this with you. I thought you’d enjoy it. Yeah I know it’s silly. Yeah, I know it’s not very popular. Well, I used to be in a band, but that’s really not my scene. I know you only like songs with words. That’s fine. You don’t have to listen to it if you don’t want to. Yeah it was expensive. I’d rather not say how much. I don’t want a better car. I’d just as soon not have a car at all. Well, it’s modular. That’s a sampler. That’s a mixer. That’s a frequency to CV converter unit I got on eBay last year. Control Voltage. Well, I don’t think they’re silly. It’s not just video game music. Well, Brian Eno, Aphex Twin, Kraftwerk. Well, just because you’ve never heard of them doesn’t mean they’re not famous. Yeah, Fatboy Slim, too, I guess. No, I don’t know how to play “Funk Soul Brother”. I’ll see if I can figure it out for you. Would you like to hear the song I made? Okay, well. I’ll post it on my blog if you change your mind. Oh. I thought I had told you. Anal0g.org. No, it’s a zero. No, it’s not gay porn. No, I’m not gay. It’s anal0g like analog just with a zero in place of the “o”. Well, analog.org was taken. So was .com, .net. I couldn’t think of anything else. It’s not important, it’s just a domain name. It doesn’t have anything to do with anal sex. Just music me and my friends make. No we don’t make CDs but we have a few net releases. That’s where you release a recording on the internet. We’ve done five Wireses. The sixth one is almost ready. Well, these things take time. It’s not easy, you know. Sure I’ll burn you a copy. Well, they’re free. Creative Commons. It’s like the public domain only preserves rights for the artists. No, I don’t make any money on it. Well, I don’t need money and that’s really not what it’s about. Well, if someone wanted to they could use it however they wanted as long as they attributed it to me. Well, it’s confusing. Don’t worry about it. Okay. Yeah I’m bored, too. You wanna play Guitar Hero? Yeah, me neither. Oprah it is.

Sudd is Dead

Death is not the end.
Sure feels like it, though.
When Fujasaki told me that Sudd was closing up shop, I was quite forlorn. But Sudd didn’t really die. Sudd is an idea and ideas don’t die. Ideas are merely forgotten. But they can be remembered again.
Sudd was a record and/or net label started by a handful of Swedes. In my opinion, they were pioneers of the free art cultural movement that helped give a voice to musicians such as myself. A million little ideas can be just as good as one giant one and Sudd represents one of the earliest groups of people to grasp that concept.
Good fucking music, too. And it just got better and better. I consider it an honor to be included with these people. Goto80, 8bit Betty and Fujasaki are my personal favorites, but I never heard a bad song on a Sudd release (except for that aa crap that must have slipped through the cracks).
The Fooj assured me that he’ll still be around, making music here and there. I encourage everyone to dig through Sudd’s catalog and check out the releases and follow the artists. You can start with the last album.
